Event information
What time does the event finish?
The event usually finishes around noon, but many people stay around and enjoy a picnic lunch.
What time does each race start?
8km Run (2 laps)
START: 7.30am
4km Run (1 lap)
START: 9.00am
4km Walk (1 lap)
START: 9.15am
When do entries close?
- Please note: ONLINE ENTRIES FOR THE MOTHERS DAY CLASSIC IN THE DOMAIN HAVE NOW CLOSED.
- We will be taking on the day registrations in the 4km walk event ONLY from 6.30am onwards. There will be no race day entries in the 4km or 8km running events.
- Event day registrations will be available in all events at Parramatta Park
What roads will be closed?
Art Gallery Road in the Domain will be closed from 6am to 11am on Sunday 11 May 2008.
Where can I pick up my race number?
All Race Packs are being mailed this week. If by chance, you do not receive your Race Pack, please visit the Race Enquiries marquee on the day and they will be able to provide you with a new bib number.
What if I lose or do not receive my race number?
If you lose or do not receive your race number, please visit the Race Enquiries marquee on the morning of the event, and they will organise a replacement number for you.
Are bikes/skateboards/rollerblades permitted in the event?
No. For safety reasons, bikes, skateboards and rollerblades are not permitted.
Are prams and wheelchairs allowed?
Yes. Prams and wheelchairs are welcome.
Where can I park? We highly recommend that you utilize the extensive public transport options to get to The Domain on race day. Please contact the Transport Info Line on 131 500 or visit www.131500.com.au for detailed timetable information.
Parking will be available from 5am in the Domain Car Park (off St. Mary’s Street) and in the Cook & Phillip Pool Car Park (off Cathedral Street). This parking is available for a discounted flat rate upon presentation of the parking voucher enclosed in the Race Kit. Vouchers will also be available on the day from the Information Tent. To avoid traffic congestion, please try to arrive early.
Can I catch public transport to the event?

Where is the start and finish line?
The start line is located on Art Gallery Road in between Hospital Road and the Art Gallery.
I have sent my entry in but haven’t heard anything – has my entry been accepted?
We will begin to send event information kits two (2) weeks prior to the event. If you are concerned that your entry has not been received, please call the Event Hotline on (02) 9431 9100.
I have received my race kit but not my merchandise?
Event information kits and event merchandise are sent separately. Orders received before the 1 May 2008 will be mailed. Orders received after this date will be available for collection at the Merchandise Marquee on the day.
What will appear on my credit card statement?
All entry fee and merchandise transactions will appear as ‘WIS Mothers Day Clc’ on your credit card statement.
What happens on the main stage?
Throughout the morning, there will be a number of exciting appearances, presentations and giveaways on the stage. The main stage is also used for the memorial minute of silence, and the aerobic warm-up for both the 8km and the 4km events.
How long will it take to walk?
4km – about 40 to 55 minutes
Are there any food vendors?
A variety of food options will be available on the day, including coffee carts, and a catering marquee offering a sausage sizzle, snacks, and a variety of drinks.
Do you get a trophy?
Presentations will include prizes for overall placegetters (1st, 2nd and 3rd) of the running events, along with random spot prizes for participants of all ages and events.
Age category winners will also receive a prize (kindly donated by a variety of sponsors).The largest community, corporate, tertiary and school teams will win a trophy.Winners not on site to collect their prize will receive it via mail within a week of the event. All competitors will receive a medallion at the finish.
Will runners be timed?
Yes. Runners need to go to the Timing Chip Collection marquee before the race to pick up their chip. Walkers will not be timed.
Can I change what event I am in?
Yes. In order to change events, please call (02) 9431 9100 or go to the Race Enquiries marquee on event day. Please allow plenty of time to do this before your new start time.
Please note: You will not be able to move into an event if the capacity has been reached.
Can I run in the Parramatta Park event with a Domain event number?
No. If you want to switch venues you will need to contact the event organisers before Friday 2 May 2008 on (02) 9431 9100.
What time will the aerobic warm-up start?
The aerobic warm-up will commence at 7.10am for the 8km runners, and at 8.40am for the 4km runners and walkers. The warm-up will take place in front of the main stage.
Where can I leave my bag?
There is a Clothing Storage Marquee within the event site, where you may leave your bag. You will need to present your race bib to store and collect your bag. Please do not leave any valuables in this area.
Where will the toilets be?
The toilets are located on the western side of the site, near Hospital Road, as well as in the assembly area near the start line. It is recommended that you use the toilets on the western side of the site to avoid congestion in the start area.
Where will the first aid stations be?
The First Aid marquee is located close to the finish chute. Medical staff will also be mobile around the course.
Where will the drink stations be?
Water is provided at two (2) drink stations, one near the 3km mark (of the 4km loop), and one in the finish area. There is no provision for runners to leave their own drinks at these stations.
Where do you pick up the MDC medallion and other event goodies?
Once you have completed the event, you will funnel through the finish chute where you will hand in your timing chip (runners only) and be given your commemorative Mothers Day Classic medallion. You will then move through to the drink and fruit station (kindly donated by sponsors) and on to the sampling area where you can choose which products you would like to sample / take home.
Where can I find out my results?
Results will be available for the Domain event on the website (www.mothersdayclassic.org) on Monday 12 May 2008 at 5pm.
Can I get a tribute placard if I didn’t order one?
Yes. You can pick up a tribute placard on the event day from either the Information Tent, or from the Race Enquiries Marquee. Both tents are located within the event site.
