What time does the event finish?

The event usually finishes around 11am, but many people stay around and enjoy a picnic lunch.

4km run
START: 7:45am
COURSE: Beautiful scenic course looping back along the Brisbane River

8km run
START: 7:55am
COURSE: An extension of the 4km course following the Brisbane River along Riverside Drive to West End before turning and following the river home.

4km and 8km walkers
START: 8:10am
COURSE: Following the same course as the 4km and 8km runs

When do entries close?

  • Enter prior to 5pm Monday 28 April to qualify for the Early Bird entry fee and your event information kit will be posted to you.
  • Enter after 3pm Wendesday 30 April and your event information kit will be available for collection from the race venue either Saturday 10 May between 2:30pm - 4:30pm or race morning from 6:00am
  • Enter at the venue on event weekend with an additional race day fee
  • Pre-event entries close by mail 3pm Wednesday 7 May or via online 3pm Friday 9 May

What roads will be closed?

*Closures are pending approval by Department of Main Roads, Queensland Police, South Bank Corporation and Brisbane City Council.

Road Closures covering the course(s) will be implemented for the duration of the event (5:30am – 9:30am Sunday 11 May). There will be some vehicles on the course – event personnel and local access traffic.

Normal road rules apply. Follow directions of Police, event staff and course marshals at all times.

How do I get my race kit?

Enter prior to 3pm Monday 28 April and your event information kit will be posted to you.
Enter after this date and you can collect your event information kit at the event venue (South Bank Cultural Forecourt) from the registration tent on Saturday 10 May 2:30pm-4:30pm or event morning 6:15am-7:30am.

What if I lose my race number?

You can pick-up another race number from the Help Desk in the registration tent either on Saturday 10 May 2:30pm-4:30pm or on the morning of the event 6:15am-7:30am. All participants must wear a race number. Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event.

Are bikes/skateboards/rollerblades permitted in the event?

No, for safety reasons, bikes/skateboards/rollerblades are not allowed.

What should I wear?

Walkers - normal street clothes and a comfortable pair of shoes. Runners - comfortable running gear and shoes.

Where can I park?

Parking is available at South Bank from 5:30am on event morning to accommodate competitors. It is accessible via Little Stanley Street and is at a small charge. If you choose to park on the street please obey all parking restrictions as per normal.

Can I catch public transport to the event?

TRAIN
Catch a citytrain to South Brisbane train station. Simply cross Grey St from South Brisbane train station to get to South Bank Cultural Forecourt. Trains start arriving at South Brisbane station from 5:43am from the city.

BUS
Catch the 199 Bus from the City. Buses start arriving from 5:58am.

Where is the start & finish line?

The start line is located on Grey St, opposite the South Brisbane Train Station. The finish line is located in the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank.

I have sent my entry in but haven’t heard anything - has my entry been accepted?

Race kits will commence being sent 4-6 weeks prior to the event. If you are concerned, email USM Events info@usmevents.com.au or call (07) 5449 0711.

I have received my race kit but not my merchandise?

Event information kits and event merchandise are sent separately. If you have not received your event merchandise before the event you can pick it up on the day.

What will the entry show on my credit card?

If you enter by mail your credit card statement will show “WIS Mothers Day Clc”.
If you enter online your credit card statement will show “WIS Mothers Day Clc”.

What happens on the main stage?

A number of delegates, celebrities and sponsors will be giving brief talks on the main stage. The main stage will also be used for the memorial minute silence and warm-up aerobics.

Presentations will commence on the stage at approx 10am.

How long will it take to walk?

4km - about 45 to 55 minutes
8km - about 90 to 120 minutes

What age categories are there for the runners?

U15, U18, 18-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

Are there any food vendors?

Coffee carts, Sausage Sizzle & South Bank food venues.

Are there prizes for winning?

Presentations will include product prizes supplied by one of our generous sponsors for the first male and female in each category of the running events, along with lots of random spot prizes for participants of all events.
All competitors will receive a medallion in their show bag.

Will I be timed?

We are only timing the runners in both the 4km and the 8km runs who enter prior to event day (on the day entries will not receive a timing band). The walkers are not being timed.

Can I change the event I am in?

Yes, but please advise the help desk located in the registration tent and we will record the change. This is for competitor safety as well as ensuring you receive correct times if competing in the running events. You will retain the same event number if you’re only changing your distance. If you’re changing between a run or walk then you will then you will need to be reissued with a new event number.

What time will the aerobic warm-up start?

The aerobic warm up will commence at 7:30am for all runners and 8:00am for all walkers, in front of the main stage in the Cultural Forecourt.

Where can I leave my bag?

A Gear Tent will be located next the Registration Tent. We do not accept responsibility for lost or stolen items, please do not put valuables in to storage. You will need your event chest number to reclaim your clothing after you have finished your event.

Where will the toilets be?

Public toilet facilities are available at the Piazza Building and the University of Canberra (QLD Campus). There are also temporary toilets available around the event arena in the Cultural Forecourt.

Where will the first-aid stations be located?

Medical personnel will be at the finish and on the course. Please notify a marshal or event personnel if you have any difficulties or see another participant having difficulty.

Where will the drink stations be?

Water is provided at two drink stations. Water station one at dog off leash area on Riverside Drv, this water station is on the 4km and 8km courses. Water station two is located at Riverside Drv behind QLD rowing, this water station is on the 8km course only.

Will there be massage?

Free post event massage will be available at the event arena in the Cultural Forecourt.

Where do you pick up the MDC medallion and other event goodies?

As you come through the finish line you will be directed into the recovery area where you will find fruit and water to refresh after your event. Also in this area will be your event showbag, Mothers Day Classic medallion and goodies kindly donated by our sponsors.

Where can I find out my results?

Results will be available for the Brisbane event on the website www.motherdayclassic.org on Monday 12 May at 5pm. Remember, only runners are being timed.

Can I get a tribute placard if I didn’t order one?

Yes, you can pick up your tribute placard on the event day from the registration tent.
