Regional

In 2007, the Mothers Day Classic expanded to include more than 20 regional locations throughout Australia. Regional Mothers Day Classic events are organised by local community groups, with advice and support from the national organisers.

In 2008 regional events will be held throughout Australia. Why not enter at a location near you? By clicking on the links below you will be directed to the event information and contact details.

The events are held on Sunday 11 May 2008 in the following regional locations.

Why not organise a Mothers Day Classic event in your town?

There are three key aspects of the existing Mothers Day Classic events that Women In Super would seek to replicate in the regional events:

  • Fundraising for breast cancer research (all profits go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation)
  • The coming together of the community in an environment that provides support for those fighting breast cancer and those remembering loved ones lost to breast cancer.
  • Participation in physical activity as a community.

The regional events may be less formal then the capital city events, and may simply involve a walk around the park with a few friends. On the other hand, the event may involve a school or athletics club and include a run as well as a walk.

The number of people attending each event could range from a minimum of 10 through to several hundred participants. There is no minimum/maximum distance for these run/walk events, but as a guideline the most popular event in the capital cities is the 4km walk.

It is expected that all regional events would follow a similar format, being:

  • Event commences.
  • Memorial minute of silence to remember those lost to breast cancer.
  • Walk and or run takes place.
  • Presentation of prizes/drawing of raffles etc if applicable.
